At CREO Gender, we are proud to sponsor Affirm to support our mission to train professionals, both in healthcare and beyond, in providing trans-inclusive services. With our mutual ethos of inclusivity, we seek to empower individuals to nurture a compassionate and ethical workplace for trans+ people.

Why Trans-inclusive Training Matters
In the UK, around 0.5% of the population (around 1 in 200 people) don’t identify with the gender that they were assigned with at birth, a significant amount of the general public. This means that many professionals, both within and outside of healthcare, regularly come into contact with gender non-conforming folk.
However, knowledge of how to adapt the work environment to accommodate trans+ patients and clients is often limited. For this reason, developing gender-affirming knowledge and practices can be essential in fostering a safe, inclusive environment.
Types of Training Offered
Affirm offers two main Foundations of Gender courses, with one designed for allies in various professions, and a second designed specifically for clinicians. Additional, shorter courses are also available.
Clinical Training
Affirm offers a comprehensive clinical course summarising evidence-based best practices for clinicians working with gender non-conforming patients. The course spans the topics of gender diversity, gender norms, sexuality, the history of trans healthcare and the role of the clinician. Additionally, this course provides interviews with community members to describe their own experiences of being trans and non-binary.
After completing the course, you will be invited by the creator, Dr. Laura Scarrone Bonhomme, to discuss the content and ask any questions that you may have to
Non-Clinical Training
The non-clinical training, titled ‘An Ally’s Journey’ seeks to help professionals gain a deeper understanding of the challenges and positive experiences faced by gender non-conforming people. This course includes content centred around the role of gender identity, challenging misconceptions, and how to best support trans+ people to foster an inclusive environment.
Additional Professional Training
On top of their Foundations of Gender courses, Affirm offers a wide range of additional training regarding ‘passing’ as a trans person, sexuality, gender norms and gender identity.
Trans-Inclusivity in Plastic Surgery
Many trans and non-binary individuals wish to pursue surgical treatments to better align their body with their gender identity. This includes facial feminisation/masculinisation surgery, top surgery, bottom (genital) surgery, as well as other body contouring procedures.
For this reason, it’s essential that plastic surgery and aesthetic clinics develop an inclusive environment that provides compassionate care at all times.
What We Do Differently at CREO Gender
At CREO Gender, we understand that taking the next step to undergo gender-affirming surgery can be daunting, which is why we want to make the process as comfortable as possible for our gender-diverse patients. For this reason, all of our staff have completed the Affirm clinical training, ensuring that our clinic operates as a safe space for trans+ people at all times.
Additionally, our surgeons have a wealth of experience working specifically with gender-diverse patients, developing the advanced skill set required to provide gender-affirming procedures.
